This could be subtitled "An introduction to professional game design, production and sales". Given the title, I expected a deep dive into ideas in game design. Instead, I found an introduction to game genres, some interesting interviews with professional designers, an accurate picture of development of medium to large budget games, and a nice window into the realities of box and mortar game sales. I wouldn't really say this is a Game Design book, though it does cover game design it's much better at explaining the business behind game design. But what this book does have is extremely in depth design document layouts which is very helpful when designing a game or other feature that can be covered. Absolutely loved. All the information one needs to not only understand the game industry & get a career in it, but also how to start an indie venture. One for the books! :)
