Kaya Scodelario reveals the moment she "s**t" herself on the set of Resident Evil: Welcome to Racoon Metropolis

Motion-picture photography horror movies isn't ever a scary receive – after entirely, the virtually famous Scream Queen of them all, Jamie Lee Curtis, can't stand horrors because they are overly alarming. However, happening the set of Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City, at that place was one incident that left Kaya Scodelario swearing and hilarious because information technology was simply so alarming.
Under, the actor – World Health Organization plays Claire Redfield in the new Resident Wicked movie – reveals what happened that led her to, in her words, "shit" herself. She also spoke to GamesRadar+ about creating her own version of Claire and whether she still hangs outer with the cast of her breakout show, Skins (spoilers: they'Re all best mates). Here's the full-of-the-moon Q&A, edited for duration and clarity,
GamesRadar+: How much of Claire did you take from the games? You bet did you go about making her your own?
Kaya Scodelario: I took predominantly from the games, that was my main focussing. I went back and looked at all version of her, of which there are quite a few, and tried to take the best, the most important, the most iconic elements from each one, to build up an ultimate Claire. That was my finish. And then that consisted of the iconic jacket crown, I really wanted to wear it throughout the movie. At that place was a great deal of discussion about them wanting me to take information technology off halfway through and I said, "Zero." I thought it was very important that we stay with IT the entire meter. And little inside information like the feather necklace from the second gamey, that's something that I real yearned-for her to have. And the cool matter about that is I got to keep one of them, splattered in blood, in my bedroom now. Information technology was virtually determination the Claire from the games, because our movie is definitely an homage thereto and a thank you to the fans of the games. Information technology's the reason why, 25 days subsequently, we can still make a Resident Black flic – because there are people that have followed the games for good-by, and generations that have fallen infatuated with it and had nightmares because of it. So it was very important that she was rooted in this world.
GamesRadar+: This movie borrows almost heavily from the first two games, but you borrowed from altogether iterations of Claire. Where would you like to see her go incoming? Code Veronica is the next game for her...
Kaya Scodelario: The Paris storyline seems fun [referring to Claire visiting Paris during the prelude to Cipher Veronica], seems improved than being freezing cold in Dec [the rest of Code Speedwell happens in Antarctica...]. Is there a variant where she's in Hawaii for nary reason? I cogitate that's the one I'd corresponding him to do.
GamesRadar+: We tin try and pee that happen!
Kaya Scodelario: Or boxy Claire, like proper 90s Claire that moves like that [she does the robot]. That could be pretty cool as well.
GamesRadar+: That could be fun, using either rattling impressive makeup or some CGI. I always imagined cinematography these things is surreal: you'atomic number 75 loss up against zombies one minute, and then suddenly somebody calls "Cut," and the zombie goes, "Oh, what's for dejeuner?"
Kaya Scodelario: It's very, very bizarre. You ne'er really get wont to information technology. You're on a set, and there are hundreds of people around and it's a cultivate environment, merely there's nothing quite a like screaming for five hours straight and being pursued by a zombie and then seeing them waiting line up for the Porta-Potty. It's very weird. For Pine Tree State, it's what I love about my job. IT's the essence of imaginativeness and pretend play. It's like being a kid again. And you can tell the stunt guys get really into information technology. They're really excited to be a snake god for the day.
We had a daytime where we were rehearsing a stunt in the hallway where one of them jumps out at Pine Tree State. And the stunt guy was not wearing war paint. And they swapped him out without telling me with individual that had already been through makeup. When a real zombie jumped out, I absolutely shit myself. I swore, I screamed, I lost all composure. It unmoving tricks you, your brain doesn't know the remainder.
GamesRadar+: That's both fun and terrifying. Of course, you haven't always through with horror, thither was Skins back in the day. I grew dormie alongside that show off, and I would like to think you'Ra all in a WhatsApp aggroup and Dev Patel bequeath message saying "Fucking beloved that Resident Iniquity movie!" Does that happen?
Kaya Scodelario: It's better than that, where we are actually mates and we see each other hebdomadally. I just spent the weekend with all of them! Well, we don't see Dev A much because he's very, very in use functional and went off to Lanthanum from the very beginning. But the rest of United States of America, completely except maybe 2, we're genuinely, really best friends. And we're in reality provision our annual Yule dinner. Every year we do a friend's version of Christmas a week in front Christmas. And we entirely look forward to that more than actual Christmas. This year, I'm setting an extra blank space for Daniel [Kaluuya]'s Oscar because I require him to work it because I deficiency to see.
We're all rattling close. And I think the experience of skins was so unequalled at the meter. We were all so young and then unworldly about it, that we need each new. We were each other's financial backing system. I even talk to Nick [that's Nicholas Hoult] for advice when it comes to career squeeze all the time. But we're also just mates. We don't really discuss work where we're actually just friends, which is lovely, and we're really lucky to have.
GamesRadar+: I'm glad to get word that!
